Welcome to a closer look at the philosophies and practices that shape memory care at The Gardens on Quail.

Our approach is built on a foundation of compassion, understanding, and the latest in evidence-based care, ensuring that every resident receives personalized, thoughtful support.

Dementia Capable Care (DCC): Our Core Approach

At the forefront of our care strategy is the Dementia Capable Care (DCC) program, which equips our team with the tools and knowledge to provide exceptional care. This program emphasizes understanding each resident's abilities and strengths, focusing on nonpharmacological interventions to enhance their well-being and daily living experience.

Integrating Diverse Philosophies for Holistic Care

We blend and our influenced by several key philosophies to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for our residents including:

Person-Centered Care:

Inspired by the work of Tom Kitwood, this approach tailors care to the individual, honoring their life story, preferences, and personality. It's about seeing the person beyond their memory challenges and ensuring they feel valued and respected.

Montessori Methods for Dementia:

Adapted from Dr. Cameron J. Camp’s innovative approach, we engage residents in meaningful activities that promote independence and cognitive stimulation. Whether it's through art, music, or gardening, these activities are designed to bring joy and a sense of accomplishment.

Validation Therapy:

Following Naomi Feil's guidance, we focus on empathetic communication, acknowledging the resident's feelings and experiences. This approach fosters trust and connection, allowing residents to express themselves freely and feel understooded.

The Eden Alternative:

This philosophy infuses our community with life, integrating plants, animals, and intergenerational interactions to combat loneliness and promote a vibrant living environment. At The Gardens on Quail, we embrace aspects of the Eden Alternative by incorporating natural elements like our raised garden beds, pet therapy, and intergenerational programs into our care model. These initiatives help combat loneliness, helplessness, and boredom, enriching the lives of our residents.

The Impact of Our Care

By weaving together these philosophies, we create a dynamic care setting that supports the physical, emotional, and social needs of our residents. It's a place where individuals with memory impairments can thrive, surrounded by a team that not only cares for them but also celebrates their uniqueness.

We're committed to providing a memory care experience that is not only safe and supportive but also enriching and joyful. Our approach ensures that residents at The Gardens on Quail live in a community where they can continue to grow, connect, and enjoy life, all while receiving the care they need.
